The Kitchen (Second Floor)

When we first saw the house the kitchen was a sad mixture of commercial equipment and pea-green cabinets. It had the flair of a 1930s soup kitchen.

When we moved in everything had been removed and we began installing furniture and equipment that suited our taste, including a vent hood that is nearly 7 feet long and a stainless steel commercial sink, giving the kitchen the flair of a 1990s soup kitchen. But it was a start.

After about 6 months we had a kitchen that is warm and pleasant and truly a workshop in which to prepare lovely meals. We built an "island" in the middle with ample work areas, sink and gas range, a 90cm wide oven and storage space for heavy pots and pans.
